A visual poem
Dynamics in the
rhythm of the Western
and Pantsula.

At first glance, the universes of Westerns and pantsula are diametrically opposed. The first lionises the figure of the white hero, cigarette in lips, straddling the plains of the Wild West. The second is a syncopated protest dance, born amid apartheid in the townships of 1960s Johannesburg.

With his performer’s lasso, Jeremy Nedd establishes a dialogue between two opposing worlds. The American continues his fruitful collaboration with Impilo Mapantsula, an international network of artists working to preserve the living heritage of pantsula.

Through this powerful dance, the cowboy sheds his racial supremacy and the spirit of conquering unknown lands to become the conscious guardian of his own future.
And the result is a visual poem full of passion, rebellious bodies and hope, all in movement..
