The GAP is a collective of multidisciplinary dancers in residence at BRONKS. During EXPORT/IMPORT FESTIVAL, they will provide an insight into how they work through a demo and also showcase work in progress.
DEMO
What does a movement tell us? And what relationships can movements have to music?
Various dancers unravel these questions through demonstrations
focusing on:
-> observing
-> understanding
-> explaining
-> reproducing reproduction
WORK IN PROGRESS (Jamil)
Jamil is about a seeker who is anxious about life. With the help of a woman, he gradually learns to accept himself and let go of his fears.
The two dancers create a unity that is felt through their very gentle, dance-inspired movements, but also through the intense krumping* they add into the mix.
A recognisable quest for every person.
*Krumping is an energetic, powerful, aggressive, acrobatic, fast-paced hip-hop dance form. It often features in battle dances, where the dancers are more in an arena than on a dancefloor.
