BRONKS in-house companies

Our in-house companies from 2023 to 2027 are compagnie barbarie and Ballet Dommage. BRONKS offers these companies practical, organisational and financial support.

This allows them to escape the unpredictability of project subsidies for a few years to focus on developing their artistic practice. BRONKS creates a co-production with compagnie barbarie every season and with Ballet Dommage every other season. Both companies help shape BRONKS’ activities in various artistic domains through their presence and involvement.

ballet dommage

Ballet Dommage is a theatre collective founded in 2010 by actors, theatre creators and friends Katrien Valckenaers and Maxim Storms. They describe their work as absurd, heroic and fragile. With a highly physical and visual theatrical language, Valckenaers and Storms blend slapstick and tragedy into performances for all ages. At BRONKS, Ballet Dommage has created TRIBUNAL and Tavern Michelle. In the 2023/24 season, they premiered Fratssen – a surreal, site-specific family performance, where the joys and awkwardness of the family gathering are turned into a theatrical experience.

compagnie barbarie

compagnie barbarie is a theatre collective of five women that focuses on challenging clichés and stereotypes. They make thought-provoking ideas tangible without pointing fingers or claiming to speak ‘the truth’. Their work is guided by a strong visual style and humour. At BRONKS, they have created productions including Gratis ChipsDit is niet de titel, and GROTE MENSEN. In the 2024/25 season, Première premiered – an absurd philosophical comedy that keeps starting over. And over. And over. On 28 March 2026, they will perform their latest production, Finale, for the first time.
