BRONKS & Not Standing/Alexander Vantournhout.

A Mona Lisa hoodie? An umbrella with a Magritte apple? Stockings on which Monet's water lilies float? After each city trip, you expand your very own mini-museum and memories pile up in your wardrobe. Damn you, gift shop! 

Alexander Vantournhout takes a deep dive into his own souvenir collection and turns it into a show. Jumpers, trousers and all sorts of garments combine to form a choreographic story. Sleeve holes pop up in unexpected places, trouser legs grow into gala dresses, and zips open up into whole new dimensions. Acrobatics! Dance! Fantasy! What once dangled idly from a clothes hanger now unfolds to reveal compelling scenes. 

This is Vantournhout’s first creation for a small and wide-eyed audience. Dancer Miguel do Vale turns his creation into magic.

Between the foot and the step.
Amid the breath and the word.
That’s where curiosity encounters fear. 
Here, doubts, hesitations and decisions fill the void.
This is where you move for the very first time.
You dance, 
desirous, innocent and bold.

What is going on, mentally and physically, right before a first time? A first step? A first word? What journey does an action take before it becomes reality? And can we map that invisible, but deeply moving, journey?

In Antes de..., Compagnie Tea Tree finds their inner child, and ventures into the unknown. Acrobatics partners Sara Olmo and Pierre Viatour rely solely on each other. Hand in hand and foot to foot, they take turns leading the dance, show each other the way, and strike a path through unexplored territory. A poetic, acrobatic performance for ages 2+.
